A nice, easy beach day.
We woke up early, coolers packed with ice, beverages and breakfast sandwiches to go. Then we drove off, making our first pit stop in Port-au-Prince. The street we stopped on was lined with vendors and we peered over bracelets, sandals, paintings, wood carvings, etc – all made in Haiti and for purchase. After clarifying a few conversion questions, we were able to pick out a few favorite gifts and then headed to another city, Mori, for some fun at a private beach resort.
It was a quiet beach with warm, clear, sparkling water and a rocky bottom. We had some fun in the water and then lunch was provided: mushroom rice (djon djon) with lanbi (conch meat) and boiled fish. Very tasty.
After lunch, we headed back to Hinche, the ride slower than before due to rain. However, we made it back safe and sound.
